Irish Tips
 

• Prepare all oral work a good time in advance. Don't leave it all to the last minute, you will regret it as this may cause you to panic.
• Be comfortable with all the pieces that you have to decided to read in the oral.  These pieces are very important and are worth 30 marks out of the entire 120.
• Speak Irish as much as you can prior to the exam as this will help to develop your Irish fluency. Listen to "Radio Na Gaelteachta" and watch "TG4" to help you develop the sound of the language.
• During the oral, be polite and courteous towards the examiner. If you do not understand the question then ask the examiner to rephrase it.
• Remember it is not an information exam it is only a friendly chat!!!
• Spend at least 10 mins reading over the paper. Read over it twice if necessary because it is vital that you choose your best questions to obtain optimum marks.
• Learn a few quotes from your stories as these will lengthen your answer and will impress the examiner.
• Remember there is no need to learn poetry quotes as these are printed on the exam paper, which is a relief.
• It is important to learn loads of simple phrases for your letters and stories as these will prove invaluable and will also impress the examiner.
• Do not underestimate the aural as this is worth a 1/4 of all the marks in the exam and could be the difference between a C and an A!!!!!
